As the NFL Draft gets closer by the day, speculation on potential draft-day trades heats up. The Pittsburgh Steelers have already been active in the trade market, acquiring wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. from the Indianapolis Colts. In a recent piece for Still Curtain, Ryan Pawloski suggested the Steelers trade edge rusher Alex Highsmith to the Dallas Cowboys

“Dallas reportedly showed interest in Maxx Crosby before a potential trade with the Ravens fell through, signaling their willingness to pursue impactful pass rushers,” Pawloski writes. “With the Cowboys actively exploring options, Highsmith could become a topic of discussion at the upcoming draft if the price is right.”

The full trade projection is as follows:

Cowboys receive:

  • 2026 first-round pick (No. 21)

  • 2026 fourth-round pick (No. 135)

Steelers receive:

  • 2026 first-round pick (No. 12)

  • 2026 fourth-round pick (No. 112)

Considering Nick Herbig is in line for an extension, and has proven he is more than capable of being a starting edge rusher, Pittsburgh could see Highsmith as an expandable piece.
