It isn’t cheap maintaining an MVP-level body.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen estimated he spends up to $75,000 a year maintaining his physique, which includes expenditures for saunas, red-light treatments, massages. etc.

“Part of me is like, ‘I’m just a country boy, rub some dirt on it, it’s fine,'” he told Complex Sports. “I don’t think it’s astronomical, what I spend to keep me right. If I had to guess, maybe $60k-75k a year. Is that high?”

Well, it’s certainly more than the average gym membership, that’s for sure.

But for a professional athletes, it’s the cost of doing business. It has been rumored, for instance, that LeBron James spends over a million dollars per year maintaining his physique. James has refuted that figure, though he takes his body maintenance regiment very seriously.

“I don’t know where the hell that s–t came from,” a laughing James told Pat McAfee in March regarding the rumor. “Listen, I do take care of my body. But I have no idea where the amount of money came from. But I do invest in my body for sure. Trying to do a little bit of this, little bit of that. Obviously, a lot of soft tissue work, a lot of massages, a lot of hyperbaric chambers, ice tubs, ice baths. Whatever I can do to continue playing at this level, man, I’m gonna continue to do while I’m playing.”

Allen doesn’t think he’s anywhere close to the $1 million figure, but he’s hardly pinching pennies when it comes to keeping himself in top shape.
