FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — We’re another day closer to the start of the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Tuesday has come to a close at Bethpage Black, site of the 45th biennial bout between the United States and their counterparts from Europe. Fans were on-site for the first time, following the 24 players around the property throughout the morning and afternoon as they continued to get prep in ahead of Friday’s opening session.

It was also the first time players spoke with members of the media. Both captains spoke, but six members of the United States also spoke for the first time this week.

Here’s a look at some of the best quotes from Team USA on Tuesday at the 2025 Ryder Cup:

Best Team USA quotes from Tuesday at the Ryder Cup

J.J. Spaun on self belief

Definitely more self-belief. I think kind of taking a lot of pressure off myself as far as trying to achieve certain things or putting limitations on myself. I just tried to let go as much as possible.

I think once I had my first daughter, her favorite song was “Let it Go,” and I think hearing it hundreds of times every day kind of osmosis or whatever, and it just hit deep into the soul. I just tried to go by that mantra.

Justin Thomas on the fans

The chants, I don’t know how the Europeans do it. It’s really impressive, to be honest. I don’t know if there’s like a group text of 10,000 people that they just come up with these things, but they’re pretty awesome and impressive.

I don’t know, I think obviously the history of golf, it lies deeper in the — it’s just very different. It’s the same end goal, right? Obviously they’re very excited. The U.S. fans are very excited to cheer for us just like the European fans are excited to cheer for Europe.

Our daughter’s name is Molly, and the amount of times I had that Tommy Fleetwood chant stuck in my head and both Jill and I have caught ourselves singing Molly, right along to the Tommy song.

There’s a lot of them, and I have a lot of respect for the European fans just like I do the U.S. fans. It’s what makes, I’d say, weeks like this so incredibly special.

Keegan Bradley on Bryson DeChambeau

I think Bryson, this is a tough thing for him, to come into guys that he doesn’t see every day, full of PGA Tour players, but he’s done an exceptional job of making the extra effort, flying to Napa, flying to Atlanta, doing things that are really difficult with the schedule that he has. He’s made every effort possible and been incredible in the team room.

I think Bryson, just his golfing ability alone is an X-factor for our team, but also, he’s a really fiery player. When you come to a Ryder Cup, you don’t want guys to try to be something they’re not. We have a lot of calm, mellow guys, so we need the energy from Bryson, and he brings that every day in practice rounds, in the team room, and hopefully in the tournament competition too.

Bradley on Donald Trump’s appearance Friday

I’m deeply honored that the President of the United States is going to come support our team at the Ryder Cup. I think anytime you can be around a current President is a pretty phenomenal thing, but when you’re representing your country at a place like Bethpage Black in New York, having the President there to support you is something that is just absolutely incredible. I’m really grateful to him for doing that for us.

Xander Schauffele on becoming a dad

It’s been awesome. I just had a kid. He was born on the 29th of August, little man. His name is Victor. That’s my middle name. No, I didn’t name him after Viktor Hovland. I was Victor way before Viktor was born.

It’s been awesome. I feel very lucky to have my wife. She’s at home with him right now. I miss him a bunch. I had to sort of rip the Band-Aid when I was leaving the house, just kiss him on the forehead and walk out before I started staring at him. It’s been cool to sort of learn what it’s like to be a dad, and I look forward to everything that comes with that.

Golf-wise, obviously didn’t do a whole lot of golf for a bit, having him and trying to be a good teammate to my wife, because that’s kind of all us guys can do early on. I feel like after these two days, surprisingly playing kind of nice. I know, I surprised myself when I came out.

It was funny to get some texts from captain and a lot of assistant caps like hey, how you doing? Because I wasn’t able to make Napa. But it was good to prepare at home on what was limited sleep but sort of a much clearer head than in season.

Russell Henley on finally making the team

I didn’t know — I always believed that I could. I didn’t know if it would happen. Last year I remember getting the nod from Captain Jim (Furyk) at the Tour Championship, around that time. I remember kind of the realization of, okay, all the hard work that I’ve put in added up to me making the team.

During those years of, like, the last six or so years of really putting the work in, I have goals and I hoped that it would happen, but you never know. I never was like, oh, I’m going to make it.
