HAYS, Kan. – The Bemidji State men’s golf team finished 12th out of 18 teams at the competitive Tiger Classic, hosted by Fort Hays State University at the Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays, Kansas on Tuesday.

In their first three-round tournament of the spring, the Beavers shot 890 (288-302-300) for their lowest three-round score since October 2023.

The Beavers were second among NSIC teams competing at the tournament, finishing six strokes behind Minnesota Crooksto, who tied for eighth.

Graduate senior Jack Southard paced the Beavers and tied for 26th, firing 220 (69-73-78), the second lowest three-round tournament of his collegiate career. His one-under par 69 opening round was the lowest single round score of his career.

Southard was followed closely by junior Logan Schoepp who was just one stroke back at 221 (74-76-71) and tied for 33rd. He was two strokes shy of tying a career three-round-low score. Senior Tate Usher trailed and tied for 56th, shooting 226 (74-76-77), while sophomore Teagan Laplante carded 228 (71-82-75) to tie his career low. Senior Tanner Wanous rounded out the Beavers, shooting 232 (75-77-80).

No. 5 Central Oklahoma won the overall team title by 16 strokes at 850 (279-289-282), with Jordan Wilson (UCO) winning the individual title with a seven-under 203 (67-71-65).

The Beavers continue their spring season this weekend and compete at the Upper Iowa Invite April 5-6 at the Sunnyside Golf Club in Waterloo, Iowa.
