As per Romano’s update, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has a great amount of faith in Yaakobishvili’s talent and potential for the future.

But as far as his immediate future at the club is concerned, a decision on whether he will stay or shipped out on loan is expected to be made soon.

What does the future hold for Yaakobishvili?

Barcelona have some important decisions to make with regard to their goalkeeping department this summer.

While Joan Garcia’s No. 1 status is undisputed, there are some doubts about continuing with Wojciech Szczesny as the backup goalkeeper. Meanwhile, both Inaki Pena and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are not in the club’s plans.

So, there is a debate about signing a new experienced goalkeeper to provide cover or promote someone from within the club, in which case Yaakobishvili could become an option.

The youngster spent the 2025/26 season on loan at FC Andorra and performed well, proving himself ready for senior football.

If not second-choice, the 20-year-old could also be an option to become the third-choice shot-stopper given that Diego Kochen is set to leave on loan.

So, it will be interesting to see how things evolve in the coming days and where Yaakobishvili plays his football next season.
