Fichajes reports that the Spanish tactician is eyeing Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsí as a long-term solution to strengthen a defense that’s had its vulnerabilities. Barcelona have no plans to let Cubarsí go, especially after signing him to a contract extension that runs until 2027.
Enrique got a first-hand look at the player last season when PSG played the Catalan side in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. Perhaps during this matchup, the 54-year-old noted the desire to pursue Cubarsí.
While there’s no doubt that PSG is looking for a center-back to eventually replace Marquinhos, could Cubarsí’s camp also be using the capital club to ensure they secure a lucrative long-term agreement once June 2027 comes around? It will be interesting to see how this rumor plays out.
