Baker Mayfield had more than a few bumps and bruises last season.
While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback is turning the page to 2026 – and eyeing a new contract – Netflix is taking fans on a journey through the 2025 campaign. Season 3 of the “Quarterback” series released on July 14, with Mayfield being one of the players followed all year long.

It was Mayfield’s worst as a member of the Bucs as Tampa failed to qualify for the playoffs. Injuries were the story of the season for Tampa, whether it was Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Mayfield or others. The offseason brought change to the organization, but it also brought time to heal.
Mayfield has been afforded the chance to recover before beginning his eighth season in the league. Before that can get started though, it’s necessary to look back.
Here’s what to know about Mayfield’s injury-riddled 2025 season:
Baker Mayfield injury update
Mayfield battled a lengthy list of injuries during the 2025 season. He played with a sprained MCL and PCL from Week 2 on, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud. The injuries were revealed during the third season of “Quarterback” on Netflix.

“Pain is miserable, but toughness is something that shows me how bad you want something,” Mayfield said during Episode 6.
The quarterback also suffered a “bad biceps contusion” that was bruised and impacted his velocity. Of course, Mayfield also had a left shoulder injury that he suffered against the Rams in Week 12.
Notably, Mayfield wasn’t listed on the injury report with a knee injury until Week 5, according to Fox Sports’ Greg Auman.
Here is the full list:
-
Week 5: knee/right biceps
-
Week 18: right shoulder/knee
He was listed as questionable for just two games and played both times.
Tampa lost seven of its last nine games after the bye week, including four in a row from Week 14 to Week 17. Despite the losing streak, Mayfield’s Bucs still had a chance to sneak into the playoffs in Week 18, but the results didn’t break their way.

Even with the injuries, Mayfield didn’t miss a game all season. He finished with an 8-9 record, 63.2% completion rate, 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
He is now locked in contract negotiations with the Bucs ahead of the 2026 season, hoping to extend his stay in Tampa.
