Jason Day will be making his 15th appearance at The Masters this year as he looks to win for the first time around Augusta National.

Day has achieved one runner-up finish at The Masters, as well as one third place finish, three top-5s and five top-10s.

On paper, the 38-year-old Australian’s game should be tailor-made for Augusta National, thanks to his length off the tee and wonderful imagination around the greens.

Jason Day, the 2015 PGA Championship winner, should really have more than one major championship to his name, given his ability.

Day changed his irons towards the end of the 2025 PGA Tour season in an attempt to make some marginal gains.

He has two top-six finishes to his name in seven starts on the PGA Tour so far this season, as well as two missed cuts.

The Australian will be full of confidence heading into The Masters, after his T-6 finish in Houston last week.

Augusta National make request to Jason Day ahead of The Masters

The 13-time PGA Tour winner has been one of the trendiest dressers in the professional game since he linked up with clothing company Malbon in January 2024.

The 38-year-old pushes boundaries with his outfit choices, and he was even told to remove a garish vest by the Augusta National hierarchy two years ago.

Day’s outfit theme at Augusta National this year will revolve around birds, it seems.

However, according to a report from SI, “Day was supposed to wear a matching pair of pants with the bird print, but the club requested Day wear a solid print instead”.

Day has great respect for Augusta National and he proved that in 2024 when he immediately removed his sweater after being requested to do so.

It sounds like he will be pushing the limits once again this year at The Masters, though.

The good news is that he has seemingly already cleared his outfit choices with the powers that be at Augusta National.

Malbon founder explains Jason Day’s Augusta ‘bird theme’

Malbon’s founder, Stephen Malbon, opened up on the reasoning behind this year’s bird theme for Augusta National, when speaking to SI.

“If you are on the course and you are tuned in with nature and know the sounds of birds, you’ll make more birdies,” he said.

“It’s inspired by Native American beliefs. Each one of these birds has a different meaning. I’ve been sending the noises of the birds to Jason for the last six months.

“Hopefully, he’s trying to stay in touch with nature.

“It’s O.K. if you like to go birding or fishing or hunting or working out or skiing, and you also like playing golf.

“Prior to us, there haven’t been many brands that said it’s O.K. to have multiple loves in your life, from your family to your hobbies to your sports.

“We’re giving people permission to be who they are and be proud of who they are on the golf course and off it.”

It does sound like a fascinating philosophy and one that is actually very refreshing in this day and age.

Hopefully Day’s golf will reflect Malbon’s philosophy next week at The Masters.
