Atalanta defender Isak Hien has seen his World Cup adventure cut short by a serious injury, as he is forced to leave the Sweden camp. ‘Unfortunately this dream ends prematurely.’

The centre-back had been in the starting XI for all three group matches, playing in the 5-1 victory over Tunisia, 5-1 defeat to the Netherlands, and 1-1 draw with Japan.

However, the latter only lasted for 37 minutes, and he was forced to limp off due to an injury.

Now initial tests have shown it is a serious issue, so Hien will not be able to continue with Sweden into the Round of 32 fixtures.
