Anne Walker is at it again.
A year after signing arguably the strongest women’s golf recruiting class in history, the Stanford women’s golf team has gotten commitments from the top two players in the Class of 2027 in Asterisk Talley and Anna Fang.
Talley, 16, has a resume so long it would be hard to list it all. The 12th-ranked amateur in the world won the 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball, 2024 Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, was runner-up in the 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur and U.S. Girls’ Junior, runner-up at the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur and winner of the 2025 Junior PGA Championship. Now, she’s joining the top-ranked women’s golf team in the country in two years, which features four of the top five players in the World Amateur Golf Ranking on the 2025-26 squad.
This year, Fang made the Round of 16 in the U.S. Girls’ Junior and finished third at the Junior PGA. She also finished runner-up in the Mizuho Americas Open, third at the RLX Ralph Lauren Junior Classic and sixth at the Junior Invitational.
For Talley, her decision to go to college is a big one. Having such a strong junior career, there were rumors that she was going to possibly turn pro and skip the college route. Instead, she’s heading to one of the strongest college programs of the last decade.
She wrote on Instagram: “This has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, and I wouldn’t be here without the love and support of so many people. Thank you to Coach Walker and the whole Stanford team, my family for always believing in me, my sponsors for always supporting me, my coaches for pushing me to grow on and off the course, my teammates and friends for keeping the game fun and challenging, and everyone who has encouraged me along the way. I can’t wait to continue my journey at Stanford and represent such an incredible program.”
Now, the Cardinal have the consensus Nos. 1-2 players in the Class of 2027 heading to the farm.
Stanford kicks off its 2025-26 season next week at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup.
