Jurrien Timber wasn’t the only twin on Arsenal’s books last season, with the academy having Yabsera and Kaleab Meron under contract. But Jeorge Bird revealed last November that the pair wouldn’t be offered scholarship deals, meaning they’d be moving on at the end of 2025/26.

Kaleab confirmed his exit in June, writing on Instagram: “Thank you, Arsenal. It has been a true honour and a privilege to represent this club for 9 unforgettable years. Countless lessons learnt.

“And the journey has allowed us to create memorises that will last a lifetime. Would like to show my gratitude to every member of staff at hale end – who has played a role in creating an environment which had allowed us to do what we all love most.

“To my teammates, it’s been an enjoyable ride sharing both the pitch and changing room and I wish you all the very best of luck for the future.”

Swansea City have now signed the former Arsenal youngster, with the player putting pen to paper this week.

As for Kaleab’s brother Yabsera, he’s linked up with FC Bayern Pathway, which is Bayern Munich’s international youth programme.

Yabsera has joined Bayern’s ‘World Squad’ of u19 players, which is the last step in the pathway. He’ll be pushing for a professional contract next.

It’s good to see the two players landing on their feet and finding new opportunities following Arsenal’s decision to let them go, and we wish them the best with their next steps.
