Napoli manager Antonio Conte appeared charged up after his side’s 3-0 victory against Empoli in the Serie A.

Speaking in the post-match press conference (via Calcio Napoli 24), Conte lauded his players’ efforts of keeping the Serie A title race alive as they are within a 3-point distance of league leaders Inter. The Italian head coach sarcastically remarked that his team’s results are giving the press something to talk about and if not for them, the title race would have long over. He said: “We are doing something beautiful and unthinkable, we give everyone the opportunity to sell newspapers and make broadcasts: just for this you should thank us, otherwise the championship would have already been over”

The 3-0 win over Empoli saw Scott McTominay scoring a brace and Romelu Lukaku putting the cherry on top as the Partenopei wrapped up the match within the first hour of gameplay.

With just six games to go in this season’s Serie A, the title fight remains locked between Inter, who currently lead Napoli by three points at the top of the table. Atalanta looked like potential challengers a while back but they are a long ten points away from the summit.

Inter and Napoli will not face each other again this campaign and their respective results against other teams will ultimately decide the Scudetto winner.
