This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke with professional golf icon Annika Sörenstam.
In her interview with Easton Jr., Sörenstam discusses her participation in this year’s American Century Championship, which will take place July 10-12 at Edgewood Tahoe and air on NBC and Peacock. She commented on WNBA superstar and lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan Caitlin Clark’s developing golf skills.

“I’m thrilled to be part of this event (American Century Championship). This is a special invite,” said Sörenstam. “I feel fortunate to be part of this event.”
The WNBA star has frequently shown her fandom for the Chiefs over the years. She has appeared on the New Heights podcast with Travis Kelce and attends games at Arrowhead Stadium along with Indiana Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham.
Clark and Sörenstam have formed a bond with appearances in the LPGA’s ANNIKA pro-am. She believes the All-Star basketball player could join Steph Curry as a powerhouse in golf as well.
“I would love to see Caitlin (Clark) compete in something like this. She’s played in my event, ‘The ANNIKA,’ down at the Pelican in the Tampa area for the LPGA. She loves golf, and she’s a good golfer. I mean, she has played golf for quite a few years, and she’s athletic, as we all know,” said Sörenstam, “She would be a great addition, I think, to the tournament. Also, from the women’s perspective, I would love to have her when her (WNBA) season doesn’t collide with what we’re doing. Just like Steph Curry, as you know, he’s such a fan favorite. He’s an amazing athlete; he’s won this event. They have the skills to do it.”

Over the years, over $8 million has been donated to non-profit causes.
