Undisputed super-featherweight champion Alycia Baumgardner (15-1, 7 KOs), has teamed up with world class trainer, Derrick James, one of the most sought-after boxing coaches in the business, to prepare for her next fight on July 11.
Signed to Jake Pauls, promotions, MVP, Alycia Baumgardner will defend her undisputed championship against unbeaten Spaniard Jennifer Miranda (12-0, 1 KO) on the undercard of the Amanda Serrano vs Katie Taylor III at Madison Square Garden in New York, live on Netflix.
“A solid addition. An even stronger foundation. We’re ready for July 11!” Baumgardner wrote on social media.
The Ohio-born ‘Bomb’s’ next opponent, 38-year-old Miranda, is an undefeated, former Spanish featherweight champion, but lacks experience on the big stage.
From Madrid, Miranda turned pro in 2018 and won her first title in her second bout, and won four 10-round contests during her 12-fight pro career, so she is used to the distance, but will be fighting at a much higher level than ever before.
30-year-old Baumgardner is currently considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in boxing.
Her alignment with Derrick James will inevitably be fruitful, as the 53-year-old Texan trainer has worked with the likes of Errol Spence Jr., Jermell Charlo, Ryan Garcia, Anthony Joshua and Chris Martin, among many others.
In 2020, he won WBC and WBA Trainer of the Year, as well as Sports Illustrated Trainer of the Year. In 2017, he was the Ring Magazine Trainer of the Year.
His Dallas-based gym is the home of some of the world’s best fighters and regularly visited by boxers from all around the world for top-class sparring and training.
