Juli Inkster had some help to make history. But, as Angel Yin notes, it takes two to get the job done in alternate shot.
“I mean, alternate shot, the reason why we did so good is because of Juli,” said 27-year-old Yin after the pair wrapped up play on Sunday at the Dow Championship. On Friday, Inkster became the oldest player in LPGA history to make the cut.

LPGA legend JoAnne Carner was the record holder for oldest player to make at cut at 65 years, 26 days at the 2004 Chick-Fil-A Charity Championship. Inkster made the weekend at Midland Country Club in Midland, Michiganm at 65 years, 11 months and 19 days.
“I think we played loose,” said Inkster, a 31-time winner no the LPGA. “You know, I helped out when I could but Angel was a driving force; but I was just glad to be by her side and her partner.”
A seven-time major winner and grandmother of two, Inkster became a mentor of Yin’s after captaining her on the U.S. Solheim Cup team. The pair shot 69-70 in alternate shot and closed with a 64 on Sunday in the four-ball format, currently tied for 12th. Inkster won her first LPGA title 15 years before Yin was born.

“It’s really nice to have this event be kind of in the middle of our season right when it gets really tough,” said Yin.
Juli Inkster of the United States walks on the ninth green during the third round of the Dow Championship 2026 at Midland Country Club on June 13, 2026 in Midland, Michigan.
“Being out here with Juli is really nice. Learn a lot from her on the golf course. Even though she wasn’t close to the hole at all, her putting speed was great, she used all her advantages; chipping was great. There is a lot of good in everything she did. Heading into the major season where we’re in the heart of everything, it’s really good to have that because you just need to grind it out. That’s where majors come in. It’s not going to be easy and she showed me even if it’s not easy, she can make it work.”
