Adam Scott has suggested that the field at The Open Championship have been given something of a wake-up call following the penalty Bryson DeChambeau received on Friday at Royal Birkdale.
The decision to penalise DeChambeau two shots on Friday evening has been the main talking point throughout the weekend at the final major of the year.

The two-time US Open champion was penalised after it had been deemed that he improved the lie while in the thick rough on the fifth hole following a wayward drive.

Unsurprisingly, almost all of the players who spoke to the media after Saturday’s third round were asked about the incident, with some defending DeChambeau and others backing the decision to penalise the LIV Golf star.
To those of us on the outside, it felt impossible to determine whether DeChambeau intended to improve his lie by the way he was stepping around the ball.

He was in the long grass, so it was always going to be difficult to avoid a problem. But you can also understand why some felt that DeChambeau was too clumsy.

And it seems that Adam Scott is expecting players to alter their behaviour in the wake of the incident involving DeChambeau.
He was initially asked whether players are going to have more problems.
“No, I can’t say it’s more prevalent. I think you have to be very careful in those kind of situations, and I think that’s what we all learned from this,” he said.
“No. No, I don’t think so,” he added, when asked if players needed to be more careful. “But when you get into unusual circumstances, I think it’s a reminder. That’s how I look at it, that it’s a reminder that you must be careful.”

Adam Scott urges players to travel if the PGA Tour heads to Australia
There has been a lot of talk recently about the upcoming changes to the PGA Tour. Brian Rolapp recently confirmed that the tour will look to embrace international markets more often.
Obviously, Australia should be a leading contender to host a PGA Tour event in the future. The Australian Open is one of the more prestigious tournaments around the globe, while LIV Golf’s biggest success story has been their Adelaide event.
And Scott suggested that he is keen for a number of big names to get involved if the PGA Tour does end up travelling Down Under.

“I’m hopeful for sure. Look, it’s one thing showing interest; everyone is interested in what’s going on at the Australian Open and down in Australia generally with the PGA as well because I think last year was such a big success, then the announcement of the DP World Tour and the PGA TOUR supporting the Australian Open going forward,” he said.
“People want to go and experience that. Some of the guys have been to Royal Melbourne for the Presidents Cup, but it is late in the year. If a couple guys came, I think that would be fantastic. That would strengthen the field. I mean, we don’t need 50 guys coming down to make it a success, but I hope a couple can.
“I know a bunch of the guys, a few of the International Team Presidents Cup players are keen to, and I know Geoff will be having a word with them as well. I’m encouraging everyone to come. I hope they can. They’ll have a great time.”
Several players have spoken about their desire to play more events internationally while over for The Open Championship.
So there is no question that there is a brilliant opportunity there.
