The Saints have named their captains for 2026 and, unsurprisingly, the group includes the club’s young starting quarterback.
Tyler Shough is one of New Orleans’ nine captains as he begins his first full season as a starter.

After being selected at No. 40 overall last year, Shough appeared in 11 games with nine starts as a rookie, completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 2,384 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.
He finished No. 2 in AP offensive rookie of the year voting behind Panthers receiver Tetairoa McMillan.
Additionally, defensive end Cameron Jordan has been named a Saints captain for the 12th time as he enters his 16th pro season with the club.
Offensive lineman Erik McCoy, safety Justin Reid, and long snapper Zach Wood are the team’s other returning captains.
Guard David Edwards, linebacker Kaden Elliss, linebacker Chris Rumph II, edge rusher Chase Young, and Shough are Saints captains for the first time. But Elliss and Young were previously captains with other teams.
New Orleans will begin its season on the road against Detroit on Sunday.
