Tiger Woods’ plea deal results have repercussions not only in his personal life but may also have an effect on the green.

Woods pleaded no contest on Sept. 2 to a reduced charge of reckless driving, a careless driving citation, and refusal to submit to a lawful test. The original driving under the influence (DUI) charge was dropped in agreement as part of the plea agreement in Martin County Circuit Court. These charges stemmed from his March 27 rollover crash on Jupiter Island, Florida, when his Land Rover clipped a truck.
The plea included the golf icon receiving a five-year suspension of his license and having to pay 1,500 in fines.

Will Tiger Woods be able to drive golf carts?
While Woods has not hit the golf course since the Open Championship in July 2024, it’s possible he’ll be back on the green in the future. However, due to his driving restrictions following the DUI, his golf cart privileges might be at risk.

Florida State Attorney Thomas Bakkedahl says “we’ll have to look into that” on whether or not Woods will be able to use the golf cart amid his suspension. In Florida, a golf cart is considered a motor vehicle despite many not having road permits.
The judge warned that if Woods is found driving that he could be behind bars.
“There are no exceptions,” County Judge Darren Steele said. “If you were to drive for any reason at all, you would go immediately back to jail.”
Steele told the court that the suspended license “is for the safety of the public.”
Woods was supported by his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, in video showing the two entering the Florida court room earlier today.
The two went public with their relationship in March 2025. Vanessa revealed her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year, and in June, an insider shared how he was by her side.

“Vanessa’s needs and issues have taken Tiger’s thoughts outside of his own legal, medical, and personal struggles, which has been good for him,” the insider told PEOPLE. “He has given her a lot of love — even while away working on himself. It shows he has character.”
