It was a tough day to be No. 1.

On the same day Scottie Scheffler missed his first cut in four years, Nelly Korda missed her first weekend in two years.

On the cut line of even par with two holes to play at the Amundi Evian Championship, Korda left her par putt short on the par-4 17th after finding a green side bunker. She came into the closing par 5, the easiest hole on the golf course, needing birdie to make the cut.

Nelly Korda of the United States looks on during the second round of The Amundi Evian Championship 2026 at Evian Resort Golf Club on July 10, 2026 in Evian-les-Bains, France.

After her tee shot leaked right, Korda missed the fairway by a matter of inches but didn’t feel comfortable enough with the lie to go for the green in two. She laid up to 86 yards and then wedged it to about 14 feet. Korda left that putt short, too.

The closing par left her at 1 over for the tournament. Though the cut line did shift to 1 over not long after Korda finished. A birdie from amateur Yunseo Yang on the 17th along with Ryann O’Toole’s birdie on the 18th, however, brought the cut line back to even par. A total of 66 players made the cut.

Coming into this event, Korda hadn’t finished outside the top 8 all season in stroke-play events, winning four times, including the first two majors.

Korda shot 74-69 and took 64 putts over the course of two days.

Coming into the week, the talk about Korda centered around the career grand slam and LPGA Hall of Fame. After a rough start, it shifted entirely to whether or not she could make the weekend.

On Wednesday, the four-time major winner was asked bout her relationship with Evian, where she has never finished higher than a share of eighth. The mountainside course is the kind of place where good shots aren’t always rewarded, she noted.

“I don’t know,” she said on Wednesday. “It’s Evian. That’s all I’m going to say.”
