Scottie Scheffler has experienced a challenging season on the PGA Tour in 2026, by his standards at least.

Scheffler has set almost unsustainable standards over the past two seasons, winning seven times in 2024 and six times in 2025.

So much so that some fans and analysts are suggesting that the 30-year-old has been below average this season, despite recording one win and nine top-5s in 14 starts.

Scottie Scheffler will definitely be incredibly frustrated that he does not have more wins to his name on the PGA Tour this season.

It must be said, there have been some worrying signs for Scheffler on the PGA Tour in 2026.

He has made numerous uncharacteristic errors at crucial times, and his iron play has been nowhere near what we expect from him.

Wagner made an appearance on The 5 Clubs show and discussed a wide range of topics.

He responded when asked who is leading the Player of the Year race right now.

Oh, it’s so tough, he said.

I mean, Matt Fitzpatrick’s been playing great, obviously picking up his third win.

I’m not really putting Rory in that conversation right now. I mean, he just hasn’t played enough.

Obviously, winning the Masters is great, but Scottie Scheffler, I mean, he doesn’t finish outside the top 24.

He hasn’t missed a cut in, what seems like five years. I know it’s been a little bit shorter than that, but he’s top 10 every week. He’s got four seconds.

I think Scottie’s gonna win The Open and probably one other event, and I think he’s gonna be the clear-cut favourite.

But if I had to vote today, I would probably vote for Gotterup or Matt Fitzpatrick.

Scottie Scheffler’s 2026 PGA Tour season so far

Scheffler has played in 14 PGA Tour events so far this season and, unsurprisingly, he has made every cut.

In fact, he has now made 78 consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour – 64 short of Tiger Woods’ record of 142.

In his 14 starts this season, Scheffler has finished inside the top-25 every time. He hasn’t finished outside the top-25 since August 2024!

He has one win to his name and nine top-5 finishes.

Matt Fitzpatrick and Chris Gotterup both have three wins to their names this season, but Scottie Scheffler has still been the most consistent player on the PGA Tour in 2026.

Should he win The Open and another event between now and the end of the season, he will almost certainly be named as PGA Tour Player of the Year.
