This year’s men’s Royal Rumble match marks CM Punk’s second attempt since his unfathomable WWE return in 2023 to pursue his longtime dream.

It hasn’t been an easy road back to this event for the polarizing superstar, but he can finally pursue the goal he came back to WWE to achieve again. Indeed, this could be the year when the Chicago native wins his first Rumble match and headlines WrestleMania for the first time in his career.

This is definitely one of the most intriguing possibilities, but does Punk really need this win to attain a title match at The Show of Shows? Paul Heyman still owes him a favor after he agreed to help The Bloodline at Survivor Series: WarGames, and that will surely come into play soon.

Even more, who’s to say his upcoming Mania opponent will be a reigning champion? Sure, the 46-year-old has been calling out Gunther for months, and the go-home episode of Raw heavily implied he could challenge Cody Rhodes.

However, that seemed like a red herring meant to build excitement for Punk’s potential win. With The Rock out of the equation for now, don’t be surprised if a long-awaited feud with Roman Reigns is WWE’s ace in the hole.

That is a bonafide WrestleMania main event with years of history to rely on and an advantageous replacement for the dream match many fans wanted. Yes, Reigns vs. Rollins is also an excellent option, but our money is on a showdown 10 years in the making.
