John Hunter Nemechek is looking for a new NASCAR organization for the 2027 season. After Legacy Motor Club revealed that Nemechek would not return to the No. 42 car, it leaves him seeking a new ride in NASCAR. There are plenty of options, but the lack of Cup Series rides might be his biggest obstacle moving forward.
So, which teams would be realistic destinations? Below we dive into the five best NASCAR landing spots for Nemechek in 2027.

Spire Motorsports, NASCAR Truck Series

Spire Motorsports would allow Nemechek to run full-time in NASCAR, even if it wasn’t the best option available. Other teams, like Front Row Motorsports and TRICON Garage, are the top teams in the Truck Series, so Spire Motorsports might not be a firm championship contending organization.

If Nemechek goes to the Truck Series, Front Row Motorsports would be an excellent option. The organization needs to replace Chandler Smith, who is leaving the No. 38 truck for Richard Childress Racing. Nemechek would be teammates with Layne Riggs and become the championship favorite.

Kaulig Racing, NASCAR Cup Series

Kaulig Racing is one team that would keep Nemechek in the Cup Series. There aren’t many rides available at NASCAR’s top level, but Kaulig Racing could look to change the driver of the No. 10 car in 2027. If so, Nemechek would be an ideal candidate with Cup Series experience.
JR Motorsports, NASCAR O’Reilly Series

JR Motorsports might not be the most likely option, but Nemechek would become the instant championship favorite. Nemechek is very strong in O’Reilly Series cars and JR Motorsports has the best equipment. This would be the perfect partnership, even if it seems a little unlikely.

Haas Factory Team might be the best option for Nemechek. The No. 41 car has been left vacant by Sam Mayer, who returns to JR Motorsports. The organization currently has Sheldon Creed leading the championship standings, giving Nemechek title-winning equipment.
