After 36 regular-season events, the PGA Tour has moved on to the FedEx Cup Playoffs. First up, the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis.
The par-70, 7,288-yard course will host the top 70 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings. That includes the tournament’s defending champion Hideki Matsuyama. No one has repeated at TPC Southwind since Daniel Berger did it in 2016-17.

Who’s in the field for the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship?
Well, you should know about a big name not in the field and that is one Rory McIlroy, who opted out. Rest of the top 70 will be there, including No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, his first tournament since winning the Open Championship three weeks ago. Xander Schauffele (3), Justin Thomas (4) and Russell Henley (5) will also be there. Cameron Young, fresh off his first-ever PGA Tour win will also tee it up in Memphis. There is just one rookie who made the postseason and that’s Aldrich Potgieter, who checks in at No. 43.

What is the cut at the FedEx St. Jude Championship?
We’re glad you asked because there is no 36-hole cut in the playoff events, but, there will be a cut from the top 70 on Sunday night as only the top 50 will advance to the second round, the BMW Championship. From there, only the top 30 will make the Tour Championship.
What is the prize money at the FedEx St. Jude Championship?
The total purse this week is $20 million with the winner taking home $3.6 million. Those numbers are the same as the eight signature events on the PGA Tour.
Weather forecast for Memphis for 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship
Death, taxes and scorching temperatures at the St. Jude. Memphis’ FedEx Cup playoff event is known for plenty of things, but the weather is absolutely near the top of the list. The heat and humidity make it a gauntlet for even the best golfers in the world. The past couple of years have seen a caddie need IV fluids, golfers drenched in sweat and even Lucas Glover sinking his hands into a cooler of ice water — just before he won the tournament in 2023.
