The Yankees are reportedly making an addition to their bullpen depth.

New York is in agreement with left-hander Tyler Matzek on a minor league deal, according to numerous reports.

Matzek has been limited to just 11 appearances over the past two seasons due to injuries.

The southpaw has shown he can be an effective piece out of the bullpen when healthy, pitching to a 2.92 ERA and 1.21 WHIP while striking out 27 percent of the batters he faced during a three-year run with the Braves from 2020-2022.

He was also a key piece in Atlanta’s 2021 World Series run, posting a 1.72 ERA in 13 playoff games.

While Matzek is 34 and coming off back-to-back injury-plagued campaigns, he reportedly impressed scouts during a recent showcase, which the Yanks were in attendance for.

With Tim Hill currently serving as the lone southpaw out of the bullpen for the Bombers, Matzek might be able to carve out a role for himself if he’s able to stay on the mound and find success in spring training.
