After losing Wednesday’s ALDS Game 4 to the Toronto Blue Jays and being eliminated from the playoffs, New York Yankees rookie pitcher Cam Schlittler is taking his own advice.
After telling a fan to “start preparing for the [Boston Bruins season] homie,” Schlittler changed his profile picture to the Bruins logo:
Schlittler is a Massachusetts native who grew up rooting for Boston-area teams. He put his fandom aside when he led the Yankees past the Boston Red Sox in the deciding Game 3 of the Wild Card Series, pitching eight shutout innings with 12 strikeouts.
Unfortunately, Schlittler’s second playoff outing wasn’t as effective, as he surrendered four runs (two earned) in 6.1 innings as the Blue Jays went on to defeat the Yankees 5-2.
The Bruins defeated the Washington Capitals 3-1 in their season opener and will be in action on Thursday night against the Chicago Blackhawks, so it’s safe to assume that Schlittler will be tuning in during his newfound free time.
