Xander Zayas looks to prove he really is the future of boxing when he competes for gold for the first time on July 26. Zayas faces Jorge Garcia for the WBO super welterweight title at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater.
Signing with Top Rank when he was 16, this is the fourth straight fight in the Hulu Theater for Zayas (21-0). The 22-year-old is a two-time U.S. National Championships gold medalist and has held the NABF super welterweight title.
The Puerto Rican admired the likes of Miguel Cotto and Tito Trinidad when he was younger. Now, he looks to hold gold around his waist in front of what has become a home audience in New York.

Garcia (33-4) has 26 wins via knockout and beat Charles Cowell in April to secure a shot at gold. The Mexican fighter looks to end Zayas’ momentum and bring the super welterweight title back home.
