The National Golf Invitational continues to grow and stake its claim as the NIT of college golf.
The NGI is set to return to Ak-Chin Southern Dunes in Maricopa, Arizona, this May. The NGI will again feature a men’s and women’s championship, each with a maximum of 18 teams playing 54 holes of stroke play. Women will play first, May 15-17, with the men the following week, May 22-24.

And this year, the winner of the men’s event will get an exemption into a PGA Tour event.
The Butterfield Bermuda Championship, set for Oct. 22-25 at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda, is offering an exemption to the winner of the NGI.
“We are thrilled to continue our mission to provide meaningful exemptions into the Butterfield Bermuda Championship each fall,” Danielle Carrera, the tournament director for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, said. “Providing opportunities for collegiate golfers to earn a spot to compete in a PGA Tour event is both exciting and well-earned. We look forward to welcoming the National Golf Invitational individual champion to Bermuda this Oct. 22-25.”
The NGI gives teams outside of the NCAA postseason a chance to have a season-ending championship of their own. And now, there’s even more on the line with a chance to play on the PGA Tour.

The NGI will continue to invite teams based on ranking, but also invite teams that are under .500 in ranking order that are outside the number to earn an at-large bid into the NCAA regionals.
Last year, the Ohio State men and Santa Clara women took home titles while Utah State’s Enrique Karg and Eastern Michigan’s Angelica Holman claimed the individual crowns.
