One of boxing’s biggest fights in years is here.

Saturday night, Canelo Alvarez will put his undisputed super middleweight championship on the line against Terence Crawford, who enters the ring with a perfect 41-0 record and 31 knockouts. Crawford aims to continue his success in a higher weight class, while Alvarez looks to become the first fighter to defeat him.

When the action in Las Vegas ends, one question will linger: Could Alvarez and Crawford, two of the greatest fighters of the 21st century, face off again in a rematch?

Will there be Canelo vs. Crawford 2?

As of now, there are no plans for Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford to fight a second time.

The first matchup was reportedly agreed upon in January 2025. There were initially questions about whether it would happen, fueled by rumors of Alvarez facing Jake Paul. However, the Mexican star later signed a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season, which put the bout with Crawford back on track.

In June, the Sept. 13 date was officially announced, with Allegiant Stadium as the venue and Netflix set to stream the fight. The first matchup took time to finalize, so if a rematch becomes a possibility, planning could take even longer.

Still, it wouldn’t be surprising if the loser of Saturday’s fight sought a rematch. If the first fight develops into a true rivalry, multiple parties could be interested in seeing Alvarez and Crawford face off again.

Who does Canelo Alvarez fight next?

Currently, Canelo Alvarez does not have any fights scheduled after his bout with Crawford.

It’s worth noting that Saturday’s fight could very much decide where each boxer wants to take their career from here, so there will be various future outlooks for both Alvarez and Crawford.

Outside of a Crawford rematch, Jake Paul and Chris Eubank Jr. are among the other fighters that have been rumored to be potential opponents for Alvarez. Recently asked about retirement, the 35-year-old Alvarez didn’t offer his specific timeline before his significant fight.

“I don’t know if this is the last big fight or if great things lie ahead,” Alvarez said through a press conference translator before Saturday’s fight, per the U.S. Sun. “I can tell you what, I’m focused on this fight, all I care about is this fight. I’m enjoying this historic fight and this opportunity.”

Who does Terence Crawford fight next?

Like Alvarez, there are currently no known plans for Crawford’s next fight following the major Las Vegas event.  Crawford, 37, has also had retirement rumors follow him. According to Marca, the boxer recently said that at some point, he will “retire from boxing” instead of letting “boxing retire me.”

“I’m going to retire on my own terms and I’m going to feel good because everything that I did, I did it my way,” Crawford said, per Marca.

Asked if he had plans following the Alvarez fight, Crawford also reportedly said “I don’t eat before my food on my table,” and that the upcoming fight was the “only thing I’m thinking about right now.”
