Former Philadelphia Eagles center and current ESPN analyst Jason Kelce is taking retirement seriously—and not just with diapers and dad duty. The Super Bowl champion is shifting his competitive fire to the fairway, and after a rough showing in Justin Timberlake’s 8AM Invitational golf tournament in Las Vegas, he’s turning to Reddit for answers.
Kelce, 37, competed in the celebrity event alongside his brother, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The outing marked Jason’s first major trip since welcoming his fourth daughter, Finn, with wife Kylie on March 30. “It was my first time out of the house in a long time,” he joked on the April 30 episode of the New Heights podcast.
And it showed.
“My first putt, I think, was, like, a 10-foot putt that I put legitimately five feet [away] to the point that everyone audibly laughed behind me,” Kelce admitted. While the moment may have stung, it also sparked a new obsession: fixing his swing.
In true Kelce fashion, he took the challenge head-on—by crowd-sourcing help from Reddit.
“Hey Reddit golfers, Jason Kelce here,” he posted. “Now that I’ve hung up the cleats, I’m trying to get serious about my golf game. I’ve uploaded 6 different angles of my swing from a session yesterday. Looking for any tips you can give me—especially on my backswing and follow-through.”
The internet delivered.
One Redditor offered a blunt-but-helpful pointer: “It’s not Aaron Donald. You don’t have to hit it so hard. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.” Another joked about Kelce’s familiar fire: “It has to irritate the [expletive] out of him that his baby bro annihilated him at the 8AM tournament.”
Even ESPN’s Kevin Clark chimed in on X: “Jason Kelce posting on the golf swing subreddit asking for advice on his backswing is beautiful. Golf is beautiful.”
Kelce said he’s also working with a local pro in Philly, but clearly isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty—or his swing publicly dissected—if it means getting better.
Fans are already imagining his next move: could Kelce join The Match, the made-for-TV celebrity golf showcase featuring NFL greats like Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Rodgers? There’s no official buzz—yet—but with Kelce’s charisma and commitment, it wouldn’t be a surprise.
