The checkered flag has flown in the NASCAR race at Homestead.

Tyler Reddick won Sunday’s Straight Talk Wireless 400 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Reddick has qualified for the Championship 4 for the first time in his career. This is Reddick’s third win of the season.

Reddick made a last-lap pass on Ryan Blaney in the final corner to earn the win. Reddick was caught on an opposite strategy than everyone else, he pitted with 15 laps to go. However, a late caution with a spin from Kyle Larson brought the leaders to the pit lane for new tires.

Reddick stayed out. Blaney and Denny Hamlin each led laps, making three different drivers leading the final three laps.

“We were backed into a corner, I knew we had no other choice,” Reddick said to NBC Sports pit reporters. “We were at a tire deficit (before the last caution), and that’s a death sentence but I don’t care. We did what it took to win this race and we’re fighting for a championship.”

Michael Jordan, co-owner of 23XI Racing and NBA legend, shared praise for crew chief Billy Scott’s call for the pit strategy at the end of the race.

“We knew we needed a caution at the end,” Jordan said. “Anything can happen. … Little kid drove his ass off, I’m proud of him.”

Sunday’s race had 33 lead changes and six cautions.
