Carlos Alcaraz will defend his Wimbledon title in the coming weeks and will be a clear favourite for glory in SW19 after a remarkable 2025 to date.

The Spaniard won an astonishing French Open final at the beginning of June, but rather than take some time to rest, he immediately switched to grass-court preparations to give himself the best chance of another title in London.

Alcaraz was the top seed at the Queen’s Club Championships this past week — one of the most prestigious warm-up events for Wimbledon — and faced rising Czech star Jiri Lehecka in Sunday’s final.

The match was another showcase of Alcaraz’s varied game and determination to win.

Who won men’s Queen’s tennis final?

Carlos Alcaraz beat Jiri Lehecka in three sets in the 2025 men’s final at Queen’s.

The Spaniard triumphed 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 6-2 at Andy Murray Arena to win the title — known as the HSBC Championships for sponsorship reasons — for the second time.

Alcaraz won a competitive first set after breaking Lehecka’s serve for the first time to move 6-5 ahead. He served out the opener with typical aplomb.

Lehecka threatened a fightback in the second after taking things to a tiebreak. Alcaraz surprisingly served a double fault to hand his opponent set point, on which he duly capitalised.

However, Alcaraz was simply too strong at the crucial moments in the decider and celebrated with his team after taking the win on his first match point.

Who is Jiri Lehecka?

Lehecka, 23, is from Mlada Boleslav in Czechia. He reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of 22 in the world in February this year and has continued to impress on the circuit.

After winning the title in Brisbane at the end of December when opponent Reilly Opelka retired, Lehecka reached the Round of 16 at the Australian Open, where he was eliminated by Novak Djokovic.

He was a semifinalist in Doha in February after beating Alcaraz in three sets in the quarterfinals, and he beat two seeded players at the French Open last month before losing to world No. 1 Sinner.

How many titles has Carlos Alcaraz won?

Alcaraz has won 21 singles titles on the ATP Tour, his most recent being the Queen’s Club Championships in 2025.

Five of those titles have come this year. No other male player can match that.

Who has won the most Queen’s Club Championship titles?

Former world No. 1 Andy Murray holds the record for the most Queen’s Club titles in men’s tennis.

The Scot won five singles championships and a doubles crown between 2009 and 2016.

When does Wimbledon 2025 start?

The main draw of Wimbledon 2025 begins on Monday, June 30. Play is scheduled to start at around 1:30 p.m. local time in London, England. Qualifying rounds begin a week prior.
