After an epic battle for the French Open crown, the top two players in the world, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, are set for another final showdown at Wimbledon on Sunday.
Two-time defending champion Alcaraz has got better with every match and overcame a serving masterclass by Taylor Fritz to score a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 win in the semifinal. He is bidding to become only the fourth player in history to achieve a hat-trick of titles at Wimbledon.
On the other hand, Sinner was somewhat fortunate as Grigor Dimitrov retired from their fourth-round clash with injury when he was two sets to love up. However, his dominant 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 win over Novak Djokovic showed it wasn’t pure luck that led him to his first Wimbledon final.
Should he win the title he will become the first Italian to win the Wimbledon men’s singles trophy.
Alcaraz and Sinner have met each other often at the grandest stages of tennis, with the Spanish holding the bragging rights winning eight of their previous 12 meetings, including the recent French Open final.
