Last year’s finalist Aryna Sabalenka will take on sixth seed Jessica Pegula in the women’s singles final of the US Open on Saturday at the Billie Jean King Tennis Centre in New York, USA.
Sabalenka, a two-time Australian Open champion, came up with a 6-3, 7-6 (2) win over Emma Navarro in the semi-final.
Pegula, who will be competing in her first-ever singles Grand Slam final, had to work hard to beat Karolina Muchova 1-6, 6-4, 6-2. The American also knocked out top seed Iga Swiatek in the previous round.
The final on Saturday is a repeat of the women’s singles final at the Cincinnati Masters on August 20, when Sabalenka beat Pegula in straight sets. The Belarusian leads their head-to-head 5-2.
