  • Location: Prudential Center – Newark, New Jersey

UFC 316 is in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Home to the New Jersey Devils, “The Rock” can hold up to 19,500 people. The early prelims start at 6:30 p.m. ET, while the prelims are at 8 p.m. ET. The main card starts at 10 p.m. ET, and Dvalishvili and O’Malley should make their way to the octagon around 12:45 a.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.

Dvalishvili (19-4) landed six takedowns and 82 significant strikes against O’Malley at The Sphere in September to win gold. It was a dominant performance from the Georgian. He followed that up with a win against Umar Nurmagomedov for his twelfth straight victory.

Known for going all-out at the gym, Dvalishvili has dismissed a toe injury he recently suffered. He’s also not dismissing the skills of O’Malley despite the outcome of the first fight. Dvalishvili believes O’Malley will adapt to his style, which has enticed him to work harder.

“It definitely feels different because the first time I was the challenger,” Dvalishvili said via MMA Junkie. “Now, I’m a champion. This time, he’s the challenger. I already beat him. In the beginning, it was hard to motivate myself to fight the same guy who I dominated. Now, I know he’s going to change a lot of things.

“He’s already changed his lifestyle and everything. We may see Sean defend my takedowns, and we may see we go fight striking. I’m ready for that. It’s going to be a good fight, for sure.

The loss ended O’Malley’s (18-2, 1 NC) seven-fight unbeaten streak. “Suga” underwent surgery after the fight, as he believes an injury affected his performance. The man with twelve wins via knockout is ready to return to the top of the division and start June with a bang.

“This fight, he said, ‘I’m gonna prove how crazy I am. I’m gonna box with him’. If that’s his game plan, that would be stupid,” O’Malley said on the UFC 316 Countdown show via Bloody Elbow.
