The Hitchins vs. Kambosos fight is in Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater on June 14. The main card starts at 7 p.m. ET. Hitchins and Kambosos should make their way to the ring around 11 p.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.
Brooklyn’s Hitchins (19-0) has had a quick rise to the top, beating Liam Paro last December to win the IBF title. The 27-year-old has seven wins via knockout. His last fight in the Hulu Theatre was in 2023.
Hitchins has gone from undercards to headlining massive shows. He’s ready to make this fight a homecoming to remember.
“You are my highest payday, and my easiest payday,” Hitchins told Kambosos via DAZN. “This s— comes fast and sharp, I’m going to beat the s— out of you. The fight isn’t going the distance, I promise I’ll stop you.”
Though not from New York, Kambosos (22-3) feels right at home at the Hulu Theater. The Aussie beat Mickey Bey there in 2019 and won lightweight gold against Teofimo Lopez in 2021. “Ferocious” has gone 2-3 since then but has always made his fights interesting.
Kambosos believes his experience will result in a win and gold once again around his waist.
“[I’ve fought] twice at Madison Square Garden and won both… Things happen in threes, this is here to be 3-0,” Kambosos told The Ring. “I believe I’ll knock him down. I believe I’ll break him up and really beat this guy. I’ve never lost in America.
“This is exciting, it brings a big smile, it brings a lot of inspiration and motivation and a lot of confidence going to a place I’m so familiar with and a place I really have a bigger fan base than the supposed hometown champion has. This guy really isn’t not liked in his own home, which is quite sad because I felt the love of my own country when I was champion, but, unfortunately, he hasn’t felt it.”
