A former IBF super middleweight champion, Plant (23-2) lost the belt against Canelo Alvarez. “Sweethands” is 2-2 in his last four fights and has 14 wins via knockout. He has never said no to a challenge and is even facing someone in Resendiz (15-2) to prepare for Charlo, who competes on the same card.
Plant is taking a big risk on Saturday night. However, the 32-year-old is ready to prove doubters wrong at the expense of Resendiz.
“Resendiz is a tough competitor, and this is his moment,” Plant said. “He’s looking to seize his big moment, and I remember what it was like when I had my big moment and how badly I wanted it. I’m expecting him to come in guns blazing. But we’ve got something for him.
“I feel like my skills are as sharp as ever. People can see that I’m smoothing out all the edges of my game. I’m going to keep becoming a more well-rounded fighter overall.”
Resendiz is 3-2 in his last five fights and has eleven wins via knockout. The Mexican fighter looks for the biggest win of his career after already taking out former unified champion Jarrett Hurd in 2023.
