Many Jets fans didn’t like how McGroarty and his team went about the situation and when Pittsburgh came to Winnipeg, they had an interesting chant for the Penguins.

Rutger McGroarty wasn’t in the Penguins lineup as he was sent to AHL Wilkes-Barre Scranton after recording no points through three games to start the season.

It certainly isn’t the end of McGroarty’s time in the NHL, but it was comedic to Winnipeg fans that their former top prospect wasn’t getting what he wanted. Jets fans were most likely energized after seeing their team pummel the Penguins for an 8-3 win and extending their perfect record to 5-0-0 on the season.

In return for McGroarty, the Jets received prospect Brayden Yager, who is currently playing in the Western Hockey League with the Moose Jaw Warriors.
