Developer Playground Games originally revealed that Fable would be released in 2025, but as of Feb. 25, this is no longer the case. With little news being shared about the game’s recent development, we can confirm that Fable has been officially delayed until 2026. The news comes from an update revealed in the Xbox Game Studios Update With Craig Duncan Podcast.
Alongside the news of the delay, Microsoft also revealed never-before-seen footage of the upcoming title. Combat, environments, cutscenes, and interacting with its world (particularly with its animals) were featured across 51 seconds. It’s a teaser we’ve all been waiting for since its original trailer, which featured a familiar voice.
The title appears to be in very good hands, with the trailer and pre-alpha gameplay encapsulating the feel and style of a Fable game reimagined for the modern day. With this extended wait, Craig Duncan ensures that long-time fans of Fable will be getting the quality they deserve.”I want the community to understand that we do these things for the best of the games and the teams, and ultimately that results in the best game for the community,” he said.
