The Chubb Classic, Naples’ oldest professional golf tournament, returns this week to Tiburón Golf Club’s Black Course with some of the world’s best senior golfers in action.

Now in its 38th year, the Chubb is the longest-running PGA Tour Champions event in the same metro area. The tournament tees off with Thursday’s Pro-Am followed by a 54-hole championship from Friday through Sunday.

This is the fourth consecutive year the Chubb will be at Tiburón, the ninth Naples course to host the tournament, which began as the Aetna Challenge in 1988.

Here’s a guide to know and what to expect once you arrive.

Who won the Chubb Classic last year?

In 2024, Stephen Ames won a rain-shortened Chubb Classic, topping former Naples resident Rocco Mediate by three strokes.

Ames shot an 8-under 64 in Saturday’s second round, birdieing nine of his final 14 holes to propel himself into the lead. It was the first Chubb title for the 60-year-old Ames, who would win two other Champions events, the Mitsubishi Electric Classic and the Boeing Classic, in 2024.

From 2024: Chubb Classic final round canceled, Stephen Ames declared champion

Handicap parking is located in a designated area in the same lots as General Parking. A government-issued parking pass is required.

Is there something for veterans and first responders?

The SERVPRO Hero Outpost, near the 17th green, includes complimentary admission for all service personnel, including military (active, reserve, retired, and veteran), police, fire, and EMS and one guest. The Hero Outpost will provide free food courtesy of Michelbob’s Championship Rib & Steak.
