Rory McIlroy failed to win the PGA Championship on Sunday at Aronimink, as Aaron Rai ran away with the Wanamaker Trophy in the end.
McIlroy would have fancied his chances heading into the final round, as he sat just three strokes adrift of the leader, Alex Smalley.

However, the 37-year-old from Northern Ireland never really had his best stuff on Sunday at Aronimink.
In fact, Rory McIlroy actually did really well to post a round of 69 in the end, given how off he was with the driver on Sunday at the PGA Championship.

McIlroy’s final round at the PGA Championship was remembered for all the wrong reasons in the end, after he had a fan removed from the property after a verbal altercation.
It simply wasn’t McIlroy’s week at Aronimink and it seems as though he knew that himself before he teed off on Sunday afternoon.

Johnson Wagner was speaking on Golf on CBS about McIlroy’s performance during the final round of the PGA Championship.
Wagner responded when asked what he learned from watching McIlroy play on Sunday at Aronimink.
“Well, I mean, I learned a lot about how difficult these greens are to putt, and Rory just did not put himself in position to attack very often,“ Wagner said.

“So he was leaving himself 40 feet. He seemed like every putt was coming up onto a tabletop. His speed was wonderful.
“Like, from where he hit it, it was really impressive that he was able to shoot one under par with just the one bogey there on 13, where he hit 5-wood into a terrible spot.

“I was on the range for an hour before he showed up, right at an hour before his tee time. He hit so many balls.
“I’ve never seen him have such a long warm up, and Xander, I was wondering if Xander was even going to come hit balls. He showed up 22 minutes before his tee time.
“So you couldn’t have had a bigger difference in the way they went about it.“
Rory McIlroy ‘seemed concerned’ before final round of the PGA
“But Rory seemed concerned. He was looking at TrackMan way more than I’ve ever seen him do before a round,“ Johnson Wagner said.
“He was looking over at the big T-Mobile Jumbotron at their numbers and comparing their numbers with his numbers.

“So something seemed off from the very beginning with Rory, but he fought hard.“
Players hitting balls for that long on the driving range either before or after their rounds is never a good sign.
Those who are swinging the club beautifully never hit too many balls as they don’t want to mess with what they have.
Rory McIlroy clearly knew he didn’t have his ‘A’ game before the final round of the PGA Championship and in fairness to him, he did well to post a score of 69 in the end.
