During his appearance on the Ariel Helwani MMA Show by Uncrowned MMA, UFC welterweight top contender Shavkat Rakhmonov shared some important information about UFC 310.
After champion Belal Muhammad pulled out of the fight with an injury, Rakhmonov was rumored to face Jack Della Maddalena or Ian Garry for an interim title.
Now, however, the Kazakh warrior has revealed that Kamaru Usman is actually the most likely man to stand opposite him in the Octagon in December.
Jack Della Maddalena is still recovering from an injury and Garry is main eventing UFC Tampa Bay, so this makes sense despite Usman’s three-fight losing streak.
Kamaru was dominating Leon Edwards three fights ago before getting knocked out with that famous head kick; he also lost the rubber match by decision before losing a majority decision to Khamzat Chimaev when stepping up in weight on short notice.
Now it appears the former several-time defending champion, one of the greatest champions in MMA history, may be stepping in to save a big card once more.
