The Los Angeles Lakers’ first regular-season game is in about two weeks, but don’t tell LeBron James that. The four-time NBA champ and athlete extraordinaire is all about golf now.

As his basketball career is winding down (maybe), he’s live-tweeting about Tommy Fleetwood, seemingly teeing it up more than our own Stephen Hennessey and now getting timeout tips from fellow golf sicko Austin Reaves.

MORE: LeBron James (finally) gets hooked on golf

It makes sense that James made sure Reaves re-signed with the Lakers, as the former is going to take any and all golf advice from the self-described best golfer in the NBA. For someone who used to swing like this, it’s a minor miracle that LBJ has locked in on golf, but you get a little older and wiser, and you know that it’s time to hit the links.

It appears as if James and Reaves are discussing backswings and how to follow through … so much so that the two completely miss whatever’s happening in the huddle. Coach JJ Redick probably isn’t thrilled by this development, and yet, chemistry’s chemistry. If James and Reaves become closer through golf, that’s a net positive for the team. Will Luka Dončić hitting the course next?

“The bug is real,” LeBron said in an interview with Spectrum Sportsnet Live back in September. “I didn’t know nothing about it. People said if you ever get into the game and the bug grabs you, it’s over with. I definitely have it, man.”

We’d love to see James pop up on Reaves’ Hillbilly Bogey YouTube Golf channel, and we’re betting that it’s not too far away. The guy can’t stop thinking about golf. Once you start playing in the pouring rain, it’s over.
