Top Virginia basketball coach candidates

One name the staff has identified as a potential target is Grand Canyon head coach Bryce Drew. Drew, a star player at Valparaiso who briefly played in the NBA as well, worked his way up the ranks as a coach at Valpo before taking over the head job there in 2011. He stayed in that position until 2016, going 124-49 and making a pair of NCAA Tournaments.

He then jumped to the SEC and took over at Vanderbilt for the 2016-17 season. After compiling a winning record in Year 1, he went just 21-43 over the next two seasons and was fired. However, he’s boosted his stock again following a five-year run at Grand Canyon as he has the Antelopes in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in five season this year. See more candidates at Wahoos247.
