VfL Wolfsburg attacker Lineth Beerensteyn is looking forward to reuniting with former teammates and staff when her side host Juventus in the UEFA Women’s Champions League play-offs.

On Thursday evening, the seven-time German champions will welcome the reigning Italian champions Juventus in the first leg of the UWCL play-off stage. The winner will advance to the quarter-finals to face OL Lyonnes.

Since joining Wolfsburg in 2024, Beerensteyn has become a consistent goal threat, with five goals in her last five matches across all competitions.

Having won the Frauen-Bundesliga during her time with Bayern Munich, Beerensteyn admits that silverware is very much at the ‘top of the list’ for this season’s aspirations.

“Every team where I go, I want to win trophies,” she said. “Also for me as a person, last season I really showed how important I can be, and this season I’m continuing that way. I just want to keep continuing. I hope at the end it’s gonna be with a nice thing.”

After two seasons with Juventus, Beerensteyn decided it was time to return to Germany. The forward appears unfazed by coming up against familiar faces in such a high pressure match.

“I mean fear, that’s a big word, because I don’t have fear. But I must say they have a lot of good players there — a good squad, quality players, and of course a lot of experience as well.”

The forward admits she stays in touch with several of her former teammates and staff members, especially on ‘special occasions’.

“Some players, I still have on and off contact with. Also with the staff members, one of the physios, he became a really good friend. It’s gonna be nice to see those people again because it has been almost two years.”

After an injury at the back end of 2025, Beerensteyn admits that her fitness is ‘going well’ ahead of the UWCL campaign restarting.

Wolfsburg will be looking to rely on Beerensteyn as they eye their place in the next round.
