After months of wondering who will headline International Fight Week, the UFC has an official main event for UFC 317 on June 28.
Ilia Topuria, who vacated the UFC featherweight title, will face former champion Charles Oliveira for the UFC lightweight title. This comes after Islam Makhachev vacated the belt to move to welterweight.
Topuria (16-0) finally moves to lightweight after a run at featherweight that saw him beat Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway via knockout. The Georgian and Spanish fighter seeks to become a two-division champion in one of the year’s biggest fights.
“On June 28, another dream will come true. I’ll be the champion of the lightweight division. Charles, my apologies in advance… I’m just fighting for my dreams. It’s unfortunate that Makhachev ran away. 17-0,” Topuria said on social media.

Oliveira (35-10, 1 NC) is 2-2 in his last four contests. The Brazilian competes in his third fight for lightweight gold. He won the title, was stripped of it after not making weight for a defense, and failed to recapture gold against Makhachev.
“Do Bronx” lost an eliminator fight against Arman Tsarukyan but bounced back in November against Michael Chandler. Oliveira, who holds multiple UFC records, looks to once again have gold around his waist.
The co-main event will see Alexandre Pantoja defend the UFC flyweight title against Kai Kara-France. Pantoja (29-5) is on a seven-fight win streak, successfully defending the flyweight title three times. The Brazilian last fought in December, submitting former Rizin champion Kai Asakura.
Representing New Zealand, Kara-France (25-11, 1 NC) is 2-2 in his last four fights. He failed to capture interim gold in 2022 and recently knocked out Steve Erceg to remain a top contender.
