Jack Della Maddalena looks to end Belal Muhammad’s reign as UFC welterweight champion before it begins on March 10 at UFC 315. The fight in Montreal airs on ESPN+.
Della Maddalena (17-2) is a world-class striker. The Aussie comes into the fight confident in his skills. He will look to use his fists to slow Muhammad down as he did against Kevin Holland and Gilbert Burns.
Muhammad (24-3, 1 NC) is a grappler who can suffocate you by the cage. He can also strike with accuracy. On an 11-fight unbeaten streak, the Chicago-born fighter looks to use his hands to match Della Maddalena’s volume-based offense.
“For myself, especially these last couple of fights, I’ve been using my hands a lot,” Muhammad told MMA Fighting. “I’ve been using the Canelo [Alvarez] boxing. I want to put it to the test. I want to put it to the test and have that moment where I go, ‘That’s why I’m the best boxer in the UFC. That’s why I’m the best boxer in the welterweight division.'”
Once again holding gold, Valentina Shevchenko defends the UFC flyweight title against Manon Fiorot. Shevchenko (24-4-1) finished a series where she went 1-1-1 against Alexa Grasso. The Kyrgyz is one of the top strikers in all of MMA.
Ranked second at flyweight, Fiorot (12-1) is unbeaten since losing her first fight in 2018. The French fighter used the octagon to tire out her opponents. She has six wins via knockout.
Also competing on the card will be Grasso, the legendary Jose Aldo, Jasmine Jasudavicius, Ion Cutelaba, and more.
