Former champion Stipe Miocic looks to teach Jon Jones a thing or two when he challenges Jon Jones at UFC 309 for the UFC heavyweight title. The event takes place at Madison Square Garden and will air on ESPN+ PPV in the U.S.
Jones dominated the light heavyweight division for years as its champion, beating a who’s who of killers. The only dent on his resume is outside the octagon, where he has been involved in numerous controversies. “Bones” beat Ciryl Gane to win the UFC heavyweight title in 2023, which was the last time he competed.
Miocic fights for the first time since 2021 when lineal heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou knocked him out. The 42-year-old had bided his time waiting to compete for gold again and plans to show the world that age is only a number.

Jones is new to the division, while Miocic helped guide it to prosperity. He believes his experience will trump Jones’ inexperience within the division.Â
“Definitely a different ballgame when it comes to heavyweight,” said Miocic via The New York Post. “We’ve got bigger guys who hit harder… a lot of things that are different. We’ll see. I have some things up my sleeve, just like he does.”
