This weekend, football and racing collide at Pocono Raceway. Former NFL stars Ryan Fitzpatrick and Andrew Whitworth will be at the track as NASCAR wraps up its five-race run on Amazon Prime Video.
Fitzpatrick and Whitworth are known for their work on Thursday Night Football and now they’re stepping into stock car racing, just in time for one of the best races of the season.
Fitzpatrick has been getting into NASCAR lately. After watching the Michigan race earlier this month he posted on X, “Loving NASCAR right now!!! Gotta go see a race in person before [NASCAR on Prime Video] season ends… looks like I’ll see you guys at Pocono.” And sure enough, both he and Whitworth will be part of the broadcast this weekend.
In fact, they’re not total strangers to the sport either. Whitworth was the grand marshal at Auto Club Speedway in 2022 and Fitzpatrick has even given advice to former driver-turned-analyst Corey LaJoie. In fact, they have great chemistry on air and co-host a podcast called Fitz & Whit, so expect plenty of laughs.
Fitzpatrick might also be rooting for Ryan Blaney this weekend at Pocono Raceway. After watching Blaney win at Michigan he asked fans for advice on who to pick. He said his youngest son is all in on Blaney.
So far, Amazon’s NASCAR coverage has been a huge success in its first season. With the “Burn Bar” showing real-time fuel usag, Prime Video has brought some much-needed life to the broadcasts. The production quality and fan engagement have made this 5 race package a surprise hit.
Now, the Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono is the last one of the 5. And it’s always a big event. Five different drivers won the last five races here and it’s consistently voted one of the best tracks on the schedule.
