Truro – who are three points from safety after 12 games – had struggled to score goals this season.

They had failed to find the net in eight of their 11 league games before Saturday’s win over Morecambe.

With first-choice strikers Tyler Harvey and Rekeil Pyke injured, the pressure fell on Luke Jephcott and Dominic Johnson-Fisher to start producing goals.

The pair were both on target against Morecambe – with Jephcott scoring twice – while former Barnsley striker Aiden Marsh, who joined on a short-term deal earlier this week, got the fifth after coming on as a late substitute.

“It’s good to see Luke and Dom score, and then obviously Aiden coming on,” Askey said.

“You could see Luke looked a lot fitter and was getting about the park better.

“We know if we can get the ball to him in the right areas then he’ll finish, he’s probably the best finisher at the football club.

“But the important thing today was getting into good positions and creating chances.”

He added: “The main thing is now the ones who have got the shirts keep it and put pressure on the lads to try and force their way back in.”

Truro will be in action again on Tuesday evening with a home game against Eastleigh.
