Trent Alexander-Arnold has once again caught the headlines, but for the right reasons this time as his late winner moved Liverpool just one win away from securing the Premier League title.
The 26-year-old had been sidelined through injury for over a month since sustaining an ankle injury in Liverpool’s defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, which saw the Reds crash out of the UEFA Champions League. But, after replacing Conor Bradley in the 71st minute, Alexander-Arnold produced a moment of magic just five minutes later with a left-footed volley firing past Mads Hermansen in the Foxes’ net.
His celebration caught the eye as the full-back whipped his top off and burst towards the away fans, causing some speculation over a potential U-Turn that would see him remain at Liverpool after this season, despite being expected to join Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract in June.
However, that won’t be the case according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that the move is on the verge of being completed.
‘Final Stages’
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “The agreement between Trent Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid is yet to be completed in terms of signing the contract, but verbally is at the final stages.”

Over the past couple of weeks, Liverpool have confirmed new contracts for both Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk in deals that will keep the star duo at the club until at least 2027.
However, it’s starting to look more and more likely that won’t be the case for Alexander-Arnold, who will leave his boyhood club at the end of the season.
As it stands, Trent will leave as a two-time Premier League winner, two-time Carabao Cup winner, a UEFA Champions League winner, an FA Cup winner, a UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup winner.
His goal winner against Leicester City will join the long list of memorable moments since coming through the ranks and into the first-team back in 2016.
Whether his future lies at Liverpool or not, the most important thing is getting this 20th league title over the line and there’s no doubt that Alexander-Arnold will continue to play a big part in that, like he has all season.
